As a lot of the DT bootleg collectors already know, there are some low-quality videos watermarked "PumpkinVidz," taken of the band's two Brazilian shows in late 2005. I did an AI-enhanced video for ...

Dream Theater - partial clip of Metropolis from Max's, Ithaca, NY 1992
Просмотров 436День назад
This is another collaboration between @MyungBass and myself. This video used to be on RUclips, but got removed. The audio was very distorted and noisy, and thus got replaced with audio from a show in Toronto a week later. Always nice to see some new footage of the Kevin Moore era.
Mike Portnoy - Papa J's Matinee interview
Просмотров 254День назад
This used to be on Mike's website. He did not provide a date, but it's an almost certainty this was done in 2003 or 2004. Mike talks about there being a cello on the new Dream Theater album (the song Vacant on Train Of Thought), then later in the interview, he talks about the fake Train Of Thought leaks on the internet. It's also evident from the discussion of the band's live videos that Live A...
Dream Theater - Hollow Years (Andy Kuntz of Vanden Plas on backing vocals) - Erlangen, Germany 1998
Просмотров 794День назад
Vanden Plas was Dream Theater's support act at certain European shows in 1997 and 1998. On Mike Portnoy's website, he wrote that other members of Vanden Plas joined Dream Theater for the encore. The problem is, my copy of this bootleg only contains the first half of this show, and for the second half, someone snuck in tracks from New Haven, CT 1996. I do not know if all copies of the "Last Day ...

This year, someone on Instagram made a desperate, pathetic, and arrogant attempt at stealing credit for my hard work. They managed to con a lot of people in doing so, including whoever runs the official Instragram account of @dreamtheaterofficial. I would suspect @JordanRudessKeys, because he is very tech-savvy, although I am not certain about that. Comments on this video will be strictly moder...
Dream Theater - A Change Of Seasons live at Biskuithalle, Bonn, Germany - April 12th, 1993
Просмотров 84314 дней назад
As many of the Dream Theater fanatics out there already know, there were two concert performances of A Change Of Seasons from 1993: this show, and the "famous" Limelight show in New York City. That's not including a known performance from a soundcheck in Ludwigsburg, Germany (available on the "Kevin Moore, Please Come To The Stage" bootleg). A Change Of Seasons was originally slated for inclusi...
Dream Theater - Cover My Eyes live in London 2002

This song (an outtake from Falling Into Infinity), got played live three times in 2002, then was never performed again. There might not be a recording of one of those shows, in Deinze, Belgium, and the other show is the B.B. King's Blues Club gig in New York, which is fairly easy to find. It's puzzling to me why Dream Theater distanced themselves so much from this tune, because I always thought...

Very similar to the moment from Davie, Florida 1992, here's an example of Dream Theater noodling around on a Jane's Addiction tune.
Dream Theater - Wait For Sleep - Rocky Point Palladium, Warwick, RI 1993
Просмотров 296Месяц назад
According to Mike Portnoy's website, this is the only time, during the 92-93 period, when this song got played the way it is on the record, with just keyboard and vocals. At all other performances from that period, there was a full band accompaniment during the final part of the song. Thank you to Francesco Flora for the four pictures of Kevin Moore used in this video.

As LaBrie was trying to introduce the band, the other band members kept noodling around on the Jane's Addiction tune, Pigs In Zen. Available on the Classic Live bootleg. Credit to Francesco Flora for about half of the photos in this video.

    I think this show has one of the best labrie's finally free performances. The final part "someday soooooooooon" was awesome, as the "familiar voice come shining through" seems to be even more on pitch than in the studio record. This is one of that shows where labrie seems to be really very focused on his singing, more than he usually do

    Historical concert!! DT hadn't played in Brazil for 8 years, skipped the country in the SFAM tour and they were playing full album covers in the 2nd night of their "evening with..." concerts, so they teased the beginning of 3 or 4 classic albums and then started the ticking of Regression... the audience went NUTS. Mike Portnoy is a fan service genius

    My first ever concert. I was there with my brother who presented me Dream Theater, he had gone to their concert twice in 97 and 98 (the band hadn’t come back to Brazil since then) and knew the band since 92. But since 2005 DT has come to Brazil in every tour and I’ve been to all of them (05/08/10/12/14/16/19/22), most of them with my brother who unfortunately passed away at the age of 43 last September. Dec 15th 2024 DT is coming to Brazil again, I’ll be front row and that’s gonna be my first concert without him. May his spirit carry on. ❤

    I think 2014 really was the final year for LaBrie as far as tolerable performances go. He wasn't great, and he certainly wasn't anywhere near his performances of 2012, but he should have just quit. 2015 - present has been a total fucking circus as we know, and he could have ended his career on a somewhat respectable high.

    • @DTArchive
      @DTArchive 4 дня назад

      Correct. 2014 was the last year when he was even remotely passable as a live singer, and his last hurrah seems to have been DT's self-titled, and his Impernanent Resonance album.

    • @23-infinitymusic46
      @23-infinitymusic46 3 дня назад

      @@DTArchive Yep, agreed. Man, if this is the state of his vocals in 2014, then 2024 is going to be a complete horror show. I can't even wrap my head around it or conceive of how bad it's going to be on this 40th anniversary tour. Mike Portnoy will surely be sitting down the entire time, hiding behind his kit during each and every performance. There's absolutely nothing I can think of that they could possibly implement to make LaBrie better live. Vocal training, completely changing his approach to singing from top to bottom, changing the key/tunings of the material, backing tracks, extended breaks, none of it has worked or will work. He's going to sound awful and I'm embarrassed for them already before they've even played a note.

    • @DTArchive
      @DTArchive 3 дня назад

      @@23-infinitymusic46 People have been saying for years "James could get his voice back through training." "James could get his voice back by taking a break." "They should tune down for him and he'd sound better (even though they already did in 2017)." It's all wishful thinking. James has had at least three vocal coaches over the years, Rosemary Patricia Burns, Victoria Thompson, and Jaime Vendera, and his voice got FUBAR anyway. I don't know how the other band members have been able to put up with it since those disastrous festivals in 2015 like Live At Wacken.

    • @23-infinitymusic46
      @23-infinitymusic46 2 дня назад

      @@DTArchive And let's be honest here, and make no mistake, the correct word is "tolerate" because the rest of the guys must be living in complete denial; I defy them to try and say confidently, or have us believe, that they legitimately think LaBrie can still sing. They must SURELY know how terrible he is nowadays but they're simply ignoring it and living a lie. This says a lot about them as people but that's opening a line of enquiry I don't want to go down. The bottom line is the rest of the guys are living a lie and they must know it.
